The North Carolina Aquarium offers new program – A two-day celebration of our amphibian and reptile friends will take place on March 7th and 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitors will have an opportunity to see, touch and learn about our cold-blooded neighbors. Aquarium staff and invited experts will introduce the public to dozens of live amphibians and reptiles including alligators, snakes, iguanas, lizards, turtles, albino animals and more. Kure Beach Community Center’s Annual Spirit Awards – The Kure Beach Community Center Spirit Awards Dinner will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 6:00 p.m. The Community Spirit Awards recognize and honor Kure Beach residents who have demonstrated outstanding service as a volunteer to the Kure Beach community. The event will be catered by Bon Appetit. Tickets are $16.00 per person and are available at the Kure Beach Town Hall or from any Community Center Committee member. Spring is on the horizon and with it comes the Pleasure Island Chowder Cook-Off – As we look forward to the spring, the outdoor activities start coming to life. On Saturday, April 18th, come out to the Carolina Beach Lake Park for the Chamber of Commerce’s famous Chowder Cook-Off. This will be the 13th year for this wonderful event where chefs from around our area will compete for Best Chowder and Judge’s Favorite.
