Aquarium Camp for Teen Coastal Crusaders – The NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher will be holding a Coastal Crusaders Summer Camp on June 29th through July 3rd. This camp is specially designed for young adults, ages 13-14. Throughout the week, teen campers hit the beach, go crabbing in the salt marsh, tour behind the scenes of the Aquarium, canoe at Holly Shelter, conduct underwater archaeology at Fort Fisher Historical Site, visit the Sea Turtle Hospital in Topsail Beach and try out surfing. Space is also available for Aquarium summer camps for kids ages 5-12 with various dates and themes. Wilmington Sharks to Host 2009 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game – The Coastal Plain League announced that the 2009 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Wilmington Sharks on July 21, 2009 at Buck Hardee Field in Wilmington. The All-Star game festivities will begin on Monday, July 20th, when the Sharks will host the All-Star Fan Fest and Home Run Derby. Fans will have the chance to meet both CPL All-Star teams during that time and then look on as 16 of the best hitters in the league battle it out in the annual Home Run Derby. Chamber of Commerce Film Series Continues this Week – Just a reminder to everyone that our film series at the Carolina Beach Lake Park continues this week with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The newest Indian Jones adventure begins in the southwest in 1957 – the height of the Cold War. Indy and his sidekick, Mac, have barely escaped a close scrape with nefarious Soviet agents on a remote airfield. Join Indy as he finds a way to evade the ruthless Soviets, follow an impenetrable trail of mystery, grapple with enemies and friends of questionable motives and, above all, stop the powerful Crystal Skull from falling into the deadliest of hands. The movies start at 8:45 p.m. Feel free to bring your blankets and snacks. The concession stand will be offering popcorn, candy, soft drinks and more.
