Ivey Hayes Reception & Unveiling
Sunday, September 19, 2010
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Since the inception of the famed Pleasure Island Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival seventeen years ago, the commemorative posters have become a staple of our festival. Many a visitor and local alike have had the pleasure of purchasing an annual poster to remind each of us what a great time we had and how much we are looking forward to next year.
We are proud to announce that the world-renowned (and local) artist - Ivey Hayes - has agreed to be the selected artist this year for our commemorative poster and t-shirts. In honor of this occurrence, the Pleasure Island Chamber Of Commerce will be hosting a reception for Ivey Hayes to unveil his original artwork specifically for our Festival.

In October, when the weather is warm, the sun's shining and the warm ocean breezes are fluttering, bring your lawn chairs and family, leave your hectic world behind and exercise your "license to chill" for two music filled days at the world famous "Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival."
Over a Decade of Seafood, Blues, and Jazz at the Beach
Now entering it's 17th year, let the music performed by nationally recognized Blues and Jazz performers, coastal cuisine, natural beauty and salt air transport you into another dimension...and into a world your cares and stresses are left behind. It's a world where the weather is warmer, the people are friendlier, the food is tastier, and the music is "bluesier".
Carolina Beach Farmers Market
Only 4 More Saturday Markets for the Season
Even though the first season of Carolina Beach Farmer's Market is drawing to a close
with only 4 more Saturdays, there are still new vendors joining the market.
Flaming Amy's is selling their famous salsas for their "Operation Salsa Drop" program that sends cases to our troops. Come on out and support this wonderful program by picking up several jars for yourself.
Another recently added vendor is the Pasta Wench providing freshly made pastas that are all organic. Pasta Wench Pasta is made with 95% ingredients from NC organic growers. They know their farmers face to face and support local suppliers and are believers of "from local farms to local tables". Pasta Wench is a small family owned company nestled in the Southern Appalachian Mountains of Boone NC and Swannanoa, NC. They offer all-natural gourmet pasta including Ravioli, Fettuccini, Cavatelli, and Spaghetti, as well as homemade gourmet sauces to accompany them.
This island-style market and the picture perfect weather are the right combination for a leisurely Saturday morning stroll around the market to chat with neighbors, listen to some music by Michal Oliver with his yaga drums and visit with the vendors.
The weather is perfect, the people are friendly, and the shopping is great. What better way is there to spend a Saturday morning?
The market is from 8 to 1 pm around the lake on Lake Park Blvd.
Thanks to Paul Boroznoff of Southern Digital Art for his fantastic panoramic photographs of last week's Farmer's Market and Art Show.
