UPCOMING EVENT REMINDER

American Legion’s Monthly Fish Fry – From 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. today, the American Legion Pleasure Island Post 129 is offering Fresh Fried Fish, Cole Slaw, Corn on the Cob, Hush Puppies, Potato Salad, Iced Tea and Coffee all for $8.00 per person. The American Legion Post is located at 1500 Bridge Barrier Road so swing on by for your plate now. The Legion Pavilion is also available for rent for wedding receptions, private parties, meetings and more. Rental includes tables, chairs, restrooms, hearing/air conditioning and an outdoor gazebo. Katie B. Hines Senior Center Breakfast – Be sure to come by the Senior Center on Saturday, April 4th for their monthly pancake breakfast. Starting at 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., the Center is offering Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage, Fruit, Coffee or Tea and Juice. Adult prices are $6.00; children over 8 are $4.00 and children under 8 are free. Take outs are welcome. The Senior Center is located at 308 Cape Fear Boulevard. The Azalea Festival Variety Show is here – Member Hal Smith of Wachovia Securities is co-chairing this event and would like everyone to come out for the show. The event is Saturday, April 4th, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Six bands will be performing along with 4 soloists and a comedian. The event will be held at the Legion Field complex on Carolina Beach Road. Adult beverages and food will be available for purchase (so please leave your coolers at home) and admission to the event is FREE. The Pleasure Island Chowder Cook-Off is only Two Weeks Away – Be sure to come out to the Carolina Beach Lake Park on Saturday, April 18th to watch some of the best chefs in the County compete for the title of Best Chowder and Judge’s Favorite. The Chowder Cook-Off is an annual event full of live music, fun for the kids and, of course, great food. Admission is only $5.00 for adults and children under 12 are free. The 9th Annual Touch of Class Charity Auction is Coming May 8th! – As summer approaches so does the Charity Auction. This year will be the 9th year for this fabulous event held at the Courtyard Marriott in Carolina Beach. The beneficiary for this year’s auction will be the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center. Highlights of this year include a Hot Air Balloon Adventure, a Napa Valley Wine Country Experience, Fighter Pilot For-a-Day Adventure and much, much more.
